Two-time major champion Justin Thomas backed his alma mater with $1 million Tuesday, directing the gift to Alabama's golf programs and the Crimson Reserve facility.

The donation aims squarely at the heart of the program: its home. It strengthens a golf-only base Alabama now sells as a difference-maker for recruiting, player development, and NIL leverage.

“It’s hard to put into words the love and feelings I have for The University of Alabama,” Thomas said in a university release. “I was so lucky to be able to spend two incredible years playing under Coach Seawell. He and his wife, Stephanie, were, and still are, like family to me.”

For the former World No. 1 and 2013 NCAA champion, the money was only part of it. Thomas also had input on how the facility is designed and used, baking tour expectations into a college setup.

The Tide’s facility is a recruiting weapon and a competitive advantage for the team—a private, purpose-built golf home sitting on 164 acres less than a mile from campus.

Anchored by a 7,200‑yard, 9‑hole course that can be configured in a variety of ways, it’s equipped with full short-game areas, an indoor building that houses team-only locker rooms, lounges, meeting spaces, a putting lab, recovery and nutrition areas, fitness rooms, and multiple tech-equipped bays reserved for the men’s and women’s teams. It’s one of the few fully dedicated college golf facilities at this scale.

Seawell, who coached Thomas during Alabama’s first national championship run, called the gift a reflection of both Thomas’s character and his lasting influence on the program. “Justin’s success continues to inspire our players,” Seawell said. “His gift will impact Alabama golfers for years to come.”

One of its best modern players just put his name, money, and standards behind the idea that this is a place where elite golfers get better, get noticed, and build something that lasts beyond their college careers.
